Yes, you heard right! Real 'live' monsters from the dawn of time (ok, their actually from dawn of the video age) have been seen near Amiga computers.
These monsters are Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein and the Phantom Of The Opera. They have been captured and used in a series of 'Monster Browsers' running under AmigaVision.
The browsers are fully interactive, and each contains a collection of character profiles from the movies. For example, in Dracula there are profiles of Van Helsing, Nina, Renfield and Count Dracula. Each browser contains short digital video sequences (digitized animations) with synced digitized soundtracks. (All have soundtracks except the Phantom Of The Opera, which is a silent film.)
These browsers are quite elegant, sporting a high resolution grey scale interface that perfectly complements the black and white nature of the original films.
Produced by Lou Wallace (that's me), each of these AmigaVision courses require several megabytes of RAM in order to be used. (The high RAM requirements are due to the video quality digital animations.)
Unfortunately, none of these are currently available for the general publics use because the various studios have so far declined to allow them to be distributed. In fact, one of them (Dracula) was demonstrated on the Commodore video "AmigaVision - One On One", but was edited out because permission for use was declined by the copyright holders of the original Dracula film. When (and if) permission is granted, they will be made available for the general public.
